At LSS, we're passionate about meaningful relationships, cool bicycles, quality gear, and long days on the bike. So why not bring them all together in one day?

Join us June 29th at 6:00 am for the Latting Speed Shop Midsummer Challenge presented by Pas Normal Studios, SRAM, and Skratch!

What is it? It's a 200 kilometer (125mi) one-day ride to celebrate the summer solstice. Worried about the mileage? We have 30 and 60 mile options available as well - all leaving together at 6 am. The best part? It's all free. There's no registration or sign up - just be at Latting Speed Shop on the morning of June 29th and get ready for an epic day on the bike.

What's the pace? Your pace! Seriously. We will have multiple ride leaders with the aim to have sub-groups that cater to each individual's desired pace. We know that 125 miles is a big day, so we will have everything from those looking to "race" the route, all the way to those taking it casually at 12 mph. This being said, we know the reality is that with a ride of this length, some of you will end up riding on your own. Please check out and download the routes! (See below)

What the route? The 200k route draws a big circle around the greater Memphis area - taking in all the highlights that Memphis cycling has to offer. We will start at our shop in Cordova and head east towards Arlington. From there we will take a northerly route up to Shelby Forest to take in Shelby County's most scenic roads. After this, we will head due south through Harbor Town, eventually strolling through downtown and across The Big River Crossing to do a loop of the "Gravel Grinder" which is now paved. After crossing back into downtown, we'll stroll back through Midtown and connect to the Greenline which will take us all the way back to the shop for an amazing post ride celebration! The 30 and 60 mile routes will depart and follow along with the 125 mile route until their respective break-off points.

Will there be support? You betcha! We'll be working hard behind the scenes to offer multiple SAG stops throughout the day, spaced roughly 15 to 20 miles apart from each other. These SAG stops will include hydration from our friends at Skratch Labs as well as light snacks, water, and mechanical support (flat repair, adjustments, etc). This being said, we encourage each rider to bring enough nutrition of their own to get through the day. Speaking of nutrition - join us Thursday, June 20th, 6:00pm at the shop for a free Fueling Seminar from BPC Performance! It will provide lots of great details to help you properly fuel and get through the day.

How much does it cost? Not a thing. Free-99. Nada. Bring you, your bike, and a willingness to go on an epic adventure. Food and drinks afterwards are on us, too!

Also, don't miss the night before, Friday June 28th 5:00pm, for our SRAM RED Wine Tasting event. We will be talking all things New SRAM and will be sipping on some fine wines procured by our in-house wine expert Lynn Greer. It's a great opportunity to gather some last minute info on the ride if needed.
